SPF-PFS Scholarship Announcement

An exciting opportunity has come to the state of Ohio! The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) has awarded funding for Ohio’s Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships for Success (SPF-PFS) Initiative.

 
The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) is administering the SPF-PFS Initiative in Ohio. The SPF-PFS Initiative is designed to build an integrated public health infrastructure for substance abuse prevention.
Individuals who live, work, or serve a federally designated Appalachian or rural county in Ohio. Please click here to view the map of those counties. (Please note Clermont, Columbiana, Hancock, Mahoning, and Sandusky are not eligible as Appalachian and rural counties due to their participation in the Ohio’s Strategic Prevention Framework - State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG)).

The SPF PFS Scholarship can be awarded up to $750. Individuals will be reimbursed for real and actual expenses.

Ohio’s Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships For Success (SPF-PFS) is funded to build an integrated public health infrastructure that more efficiently leverages prevention resources to support the alignment of prevention priorities from multiple systems at the community, state and federal levels. This expanded infrastructure and increased workforce capacity will lead to an increased use of evidence-based practice and ensure that Ohio’s Appalachian and rural populations have equitable access to culturally competent substance abuse prevention services. 

SPF PFS has established scholarships to assist individuals in attending substance abuse prevention training opportunities to increase workforce capacity for substance abuse prevention services.

The SPF PFS Scholarship can be awarded up to $750. Individuals will be reimbursed for real and actual expenses.

How will the scholarships be awarded?

Scholarships are awarded based on:

  • Your organization or community limitations on ability to attend
  • The value you will get from attending a substance abuse prevention training
  • The value your organization or community will get from your attending a  substance abuse prevention training

Important Notes

Important Notes:

  • Once the individual is selected, the scholarship cannot be transferred to another individual
  • Scholarship recipient are required to stay for the entire duration of the training opportunity
  • Should the scholarship recipient fail to show up and PreventionFIRST! incurs any expense as a result, the recipient is responsible for reimbursing PreventionFIRST! for these expenses.  An invoice will be sent to the address submitted with the application.

This is the Out-of-Pocket Expense Reimbursement Request form which is based on pre-approval from PreventionFirst! Please submit the form by the *end of the month* in which the activities occurred (i.e. June 30). Return this form along with your receipts and mileage map (i.e. MapQuest, Google Maps). The address and contact information is on the form.
